Love Them Anyway

“Do not miss the opportunity to learn wisdom from Jesus during your suffering.”

– Athena

What if I told you there is a simple but not easy way to embark on the path of forgiveness? Would you choose to take that path? While there isn’t a specific recipe for forgiveness, which may be disappointing, each person’s journey is uniquely tied to their own life and story. God has a unique path prepared specifically for you, and it is essential to follow it to understand later and extend forgiveness. Let me ask you a question: How can you forgive without knowing what you have been forgiven for?

The beauty of the gospel is highlighted in Romans 5:8, which states, “But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Due to Adam’s disobedience towards God, we inherited original sin (Romans 5:12-19), and our wage for sin was death (Romans 6:23). However, in God’s great mercy and grace, God sent his one and only Son, Jesus, to be our substitute atonement so that we could be reconciled to Him. (Isaiah 53:5). Jesus, who knew no sin, died for us at our worst, when we did not deserve it. (2 Cor. 5:21). Jesus sacrificed himself for the very people who put him on that cross, his own people.

Jesus was betrayed, mocked, spit on, beaten, and ultimately crucified, and he still asked God to forgive them at the end of his death. (Mark 15:16-20) (Luke 23:34). Once I understood the gospel and what Jesus did for us, my heart opened to learn how to forgive others. The gospel is not just for me, but for you; it is for everyone. It is a free gift available to you if you repent of your sins and accept Jesus into your heart. The path to forgiveness is narrow and challenging, but accepting Jesus opens the door to true freedom. I am excited to be on this journey with you!
